Soho has long been known as one of London’s most vibrant and eclectic neighbourhoods — a place where creativity meets culture and where the culinary scene is constantly evolving. Amidst the hustle and charm of the Soho area of London, SOLA shines as a Michelin-starred destination that combines innovation, refinement, and character. With its unique Californian-inspired tasting menus and intimate dining room, SOLA offers a refreshing take on fine dining that has firmly secured its place as a culinary star in central London.
Located on Dean Street, SOLA sits at the centre of Soho’s energetic food scene, surrounded by everything from late-night ramen joints to buzzing cocktail bars. But SOLA offers something different — a calm, elegant space where the focus is firmly on quality, creativity, and experience. It’s a world away from the noise and crowds outside, offering diners a tranquil escape in one of the city’s most dynamic areas.
SOLA’s modern yet welcoming interior sets the tone for what’s to come: a refined culinary journey with Californian flair, expertly executed with British produce and international influences.
At the heart of SOLA’s success is Chef Patron Victor Garvey, whose international background informs every element of the dining experience. Inspired by the diversity and seasonality of California’s cuisine, Garvey has created menus that are light, inventive, and full of flavour, standing apart from the heavier traditional offerings often found in classic fine dining.
Each tasting menu — available at lunch and dinner — features meticulously crafted courses that combine texture, flavour, and visual appeal.
SOLA’s focus on tasting menus makes it a perfect destination for food lovers seeking something more than just a meal. The lunch menu is a fantastic way to experience the restaurant’s excellence at a slightly more accessible price point, while the evening menu offers a longer, more elaborate journey through Garvey’s culinary imagination.
Courses are served with a smooth, well-paced rhythm that allows diners to relax, take in the surroundings, and enjoy each moment. The restaurant’s intimate setting, with limited covers, ensures personal and attentive service throughout.
True to its Californian inspiration, SOLA’s wine programme is heavily focused on North American producers, particularly from California’s top regions. Guests can opt for standard or premium pairings, each carefully selected to complement the tasting menu.
For those who prefer not to drink alcohol, SOLA also offers an impressive non-alcoholic pairing, showcasing creative infusions and non-alcoholic blends that reflect the same level of attention as their wine counterparts. This inclusive approach further reflects the restaurant’s modern take on luxury.
What truly makes SOLA stand out in the Soho area of London is its ability to deliver a Michelin-starred experience that feels warm, personal, and entirely unpretentious. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate, yet friendly and relaxed — helping diners feel at ease from the first course to the last.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply indulging in a spontaneous treat, SOLA offers a dining experience that feels like a true occasion.
In a district packed with restaurants and culinary trends, SOLA remains a beacon of quality and originality. It offers something rare in the capital: a fine dining experience that’s grounded in substance and soul. From the food to the wine, the service to the setting, everything at SOLA feels considered and carefully executed.
If you’re exploring the Soho area of London and seeking a restaurant that delivers on every front, SOLA should be at the very top of your list.
