If you’re searching for an unforgettable dining experience in central London, SOLA is a name that continues to rise to the top. Tucked away on Dean Street, in the heart of Soho, SOLA offers a Michelin-starred culinary journey that effortlessly blends Californian creativity with European finesse. Among the many options for food lovers in and around Soho, SOLA stands out not only for the quality of its food, but also for its warm service, refined atmosphere, and distinct identity.
Soho is one of London’s most iconic neighbourhoods, known for its vibrant mix of restaurants, theatres, bars, and galleries. It’s a hub for locals and tourists alike, especially those exploring the West End or nearby areas like Covent Garden, Fitzrovia, or Oxford Circus. Nestled within this buzzing district, SOLA offers a welcome moment of calm and elegance — just a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road station.
Perfect for a leisurely lunch, pre-theatre dining, or a celebratory evening, SOLA combines the convenience of a central location with the exclusivity of a hidden gem.
At the heart of SOLA’s appeal is its distinctive culinary concept. Led by Chef Patron Victor Garvey, the kitchen takes inspiration from the diverse, produce-led cooking of California’s Pacific Coast, paired with Michelin-level precision and artistic flair. The result is a unique tasting menu that changes with the seasons, showcasing fresh seafood, premium meats, and thoughtful plant-based creations.
Whether you’re indulging in an extended dinner tasting menu or opting for the more concise but equally elegant set lunch, every dish is a showcase of balance, texture, and innovation.
Unlike some of Soho’s livelier venues, SOLA offers a more refined and intimate dining environment. With a modest number of covers and stylish yet understated interiors, it’s ideal for those who appreciate a calm, unhurried atmosphere where the food takes centre stage.
The décor reflects a West Coast sensibility — clean lines, warm tones, and subtle touches of greenery. It’s perfect for both special occasions and quiet moments of indulgence, making it one of the most versatile options near Soho for fine dining.
In addition to its standout food, SOLA’s service is consistently praised for its warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism. The team are highly knowledgeable and happy to guide guests through the intricacies of each dish, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.
SOLA also offers an impressive wine list, with a strong focus on North American wines — particularly those from California. Guests can opt for a wine pairing to accompany the tasting menu, with selections chosen to enhance the flavours of each course.
Among the best restaurants near Soho London, SOLA sets itself apart by offering more than just excellent food — it offers a complete culinary experience. With its distinctive Californian identity, Michelin-starred menu, and elegant setting, it’s a place where diners are invited to slow down, savour each bite, and leave with lasting memories.
Whether you’re a London local or visiting the capital, SOLA is well worth seeking out. It’s a chance to experience something genuinely different — a little slice of California served with Soho style.
